Our Careteam

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jacque grew up in Grand Rapids, where she and her three siblings cared for all manner of pets. The family kept cats and dogs, parrots, fiddler crabs, hermit crabs, fresh- and salt-water fish, and even chameleons. For Jacque, a career spent tending to the needs of animals simply made sense!

After working at another local hospital, Jacque joined the Pennsylvania Veterinary Care team in March of 2016, where she serves as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She’s particularly fond of the down-and-dirty parts of the job; for her, nothing is considered “too gross.”

At home, Jacque lives with her six cats—Play Kat, Cry Baby, the elusive Robin Hood, twins Athena and Bast, and Neptune—and is also currently fostering four kittens. When she isn’t working or tending to her own pets’ needs, Jacque likes knitting and crocheting. Most of her work turns into cat toys!

Practice Manager

Nancy grew up on her father’s farm in Rives Junction, Michigan, where she was an animal parent to everything from cows and chickens to dogs and degus. She got her very own canine companion as a birthday present when she was young, and the rest is history—Nancy knew that she was destined to work in the veterinary field one day! Now, she’s able to help pets daily as the Practice Manager here at Pennsylvania Veterinary Care.

Nancy’s animal-care journey started when she began volunteering at a local rescue, taking in litters of puppies and matching adoptive parents with the proper furry family member. During her time in college, she remained active in the Future Farmers of America organization and served as a dairy judge. More recently, she’s participated in obedience, conformation, and agility competitions with her own dogs. For Nancy, it was simply a natural progression that her career would involve animals! She’s thrilled to use both her hands-on animal-care experience and her education in business management to best serve the pet owners of the Lansing area.

Nancy and her husband, Jack, have six grown children and one grandchild. They share their home with three pets: Millie, a beagle mix who allows her tracking instincts to get her into trouble on a daily basis; a mutt named Maynard who is Jack’s shadow; and a loveable new feline addition who goes by Sammi.

When time allows outside of her work schedule, Nancy likes hiking throughout Northern Michigan with her husband and the dogs, working in her large perennial garden, and spending quality time with family.

Veterinary Assistant

As a teenager, Samantha started shadowing a veterinarian in her hometown of Saline, Michigan—it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the veterinary field. She’s known ever since that she wanted to become an animal-care professional herself! Samantha is thrilled to help pets as a Veterinary Assistant with Pennsylvania Veterinary Care.

Samantha graduated with honors from Michigan State University in 2014, where she earned her degree in environmental studies and agri-science with a concentration in science and policy. When a classmate of hers mentioned that Pennsylvania Veterinary Care was hiring, she jumped at the opportunity to be a part of a compassionate and skilled clinic team; Samantha joined the hospital family in June of 2015 and has been serving pets and their owners here ever since.

Around the clinic, Samantha enjoys interacting directly with clientele and getting to know their pets on a personal level. She’s also fond of soaking up knowledge from her coworkers, and continues to learn something new every single day.

Samantha recently bought her very first home in Lansing, and is happy to own a small piece of the town that she loves so much. She spends most of her free time reading, enjoying the company of her pets at home, and going on long walks around her neighborhood with her dog, Delilah. She also lives with Dandy-Lion, a kitten named for her feisty personality, as well as a multitude of leopard geckos. Samantha began breeding leopard geckos seven years ago, and now owns nearly 20 of the loveable lizards!

Veterinary Assistant

Shondi grew up right here in the Lansing area, and felt a natural inclination toward pets from the time she was a little girl. She’s always considered it her responsibility to nurture the animals who offer so much to their loving owners. Working as a Veterinary Assistant allows Shondi to do just that!

Shondi began her professional career as a medical assistant in the human healthcare field before responding to an advertisement for a veterinary receptionist position in 2002. She began working in Fremont shortly afterward, and quickly realized that she had found her true calling—the veterinary industry allowed Shondi to put her nurturing instincts to good use while benefiting the pets that she loves so much.

Shondi joined the Pennsylvania Veterinary Care family in the fall of 2010 and has happily been serving Lansing’s animal companions and pet owners here ever since. One of her favorite parts of the job is soothing pets who are anxious, and she makes it her mission to provide a positive overall experience for the clinic’s visitors (both the four- and two-legged variety!).

At home, Shondi lives with her husband, their wonderful son, and five pets. The family has four silly cats—Dover, Indy, Mal, and Foo—as well as a spunky Golden retriever named Rufus who loves everyone. When she isn’t enjoying the company of her own animal friends or tending to pet owners’ needs here at the hospital, Shondi can be found working in her garden, crocheting items to sell at her fall-time craft show, and cooking delicious meals for family and friends.
